GASANOVA & Varenyky Fashion present a special capsule collection
For Ukraine's Independence Day
For Ukraine's Independence Day
The “Lesya” shirt is adorned with precious stones, with the central motif “Ruta” inspired by an antique 1925 embroidery.
The face of the collection is Oleksandra Matviichuk — human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Her look embodies the strength, delicacy, and resilience of Ukrainians.
The name “Lesya” is no coincidence: it is Oleksandra’s second name, given to her by her parents.
This capsule goes beyond ethnography — the embroidered shirt becomes a symbol of identity, cultural heritage, and the light we pass on to future generations.
The shirt is crafted from pure linen and embellished with precious stones. Its sleeves are adorned with the traditional floral ornament "Ruta," recreated from an embroidered towel dating back to 1925. This symbol represents joy, the eternal force of life, and protection from negative energy.
The model features wide sleeves flaring towards the bottom, delicately released threads, an original collar, and a tasseled belt.
Material: 100% linen.
„Ukrainian human rights advocate, head of the Center for Civil Liberties, Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 2022.
Once, a friend asked me if I had ever thought about why we have so many folk songs. She explained that this was the only thing previous generations could pass down to their children — because it was the only thing that could not be destroyed or taken away.
It so happened that I didn’t have an embroidered shirt (vyshyvanka) passed down from my grandmother. I bought my first vyshyvanka together with my parents during my school years. I am very happy that now I will have something to pass on to my own children.”
